Mustafizur Rahman was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 9.20 crore in the auction held for IPL 2026, his price was so high because other teams (CSK, DC) were also ready to pay a big amount for him. KKR and team owner Shahrukh Khan started being criticized for buying the Bangladeshi player, after which KKR released him on the instructions of BCCI. Now he will be seen playing in Pakistan Super League.
Return to PSL after 8 years
Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur will now play in Pakistan Super League. It was informed by the league that he has registered his name for PSL 11. The Bangladeshi bowler played his last PSL in 2017/18.
Talking about IPL, Mustafizur has been playing since 2016. He made his debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad. In 2018 he played for Mumbai and in 2021 for Rajasthan Royals. After this, played for Delhi Capitals in 2022 and 2023 and Chennai Super Kings in 2024. Last year, he became a part of Delhi Capitals as a replacement.
Ban on IPL telecast in Bangladesh
After the release of Mustafizur by KKR, the Bangladesh government has decided to ban the telecast of Indian Premier League matches. BCB also called an emergency meeting after this, in which it was decided that it will not send its team to India for the T20 World Cup 2026.
Let us tell you that Bangladesh has to play 3 out of 4 matches of its group stage in Kolkata and 1 match in Mumbai. BCB wants their team’s matches to be shifted to Sri Lanka. However, it is very difficult to change the schedule one month before the start of the tournament.
