A big step has been taken towards making the Namo Bharat service running from Delhi to Meerut more convenient for the passengers. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has ensured parking for more than 8000 vehicles at various stations on the corridor. Its objective is clear that people should come to the station in private vehicles and complete their further journey by fast, safe and timely public transport.
Largest parking facility at Ghaziabad station
The largest parking of the corridor for four-wheelers has been made at Ghaziabad Namo Bharat station. Here 370 cars and 632 two-wheelers can be parked simultaneously. This station is located on Delhi-Meerut Road and multi-modal connectivity is also strengthened due to the presence of Shaheed Sthal Metro Station nearby.
Parking for 76 cars and 223 two-wheelers is available at Sahibabad station. At the same time, 191 cars and 848 two-wheelers can be parked at Guldhar station near Rajnagar Extension.
Better arrangements at Delhi stations also
Parking facility for 266 cars and 837 two-wheelers has been provided at Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat station in Delhi. The station has emerged as a major hub of multi-modal integration, with major transport hubs like Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station and Veer Haqiqat Rai ISBT in close proximity.
Parking arrangements for about 50 vehicles have also been made at Anand Vihar Namo Bharat station, which will provide relief to the passengers of East Delhi and surrounding areas.
Extensive parking network in Meerut also
- Parking is available for 289 four-wheelers and 854 two-wheelers at Meerut South station. This station is located near Partapur Bypass, from where bus services to Haridwar and Roorkee are also available.
- More than 135 cars and more than 1,200 two-wheelers can be parked at Modipuram station. Shatabdi Nagar station has a facility of about 120 cars and more than 350 two-wheelers.
- Under the country’s fastest service running between 12 stations of Meerut Metro, parking of different capacities has been provided for two-wheelers at Partapur, Rithani, Brahmpuri, MES Colony and Daurali stations.
Alternative parking and drop off zones where space is limited
- Due to lack of space at some stations, passengers have also been given the option of nearby private parking. For example, vehicles can be parked in the Abu Lane Market area for Begumpul underground station.
- Drop off zones have been created at every station, so that passengers do not face any problem in entry and exit and there is no jam on the main roads. Passengers can easily reach the station through e-rickshaw, auto, bus and other means.
What are the parking rates?
There is a fixed fee of Rs 5 for cycling at stations in Uttar Pradesh for 10 minutes to 6 hours. You will have to pay Rs 10 for two-wheelers and Rs 30 for cars or SUVs. For 6 to 12 hours, the fee is Rs 25 for a two-wheeler and Rs 60 for a car or SUV. A bicycle can be parked for Rs 10, a two-wheeler for Rs 30 and a car or SUV for Rs 80 for 12 to 16 hours. From 16 hours to the operating time, you will have to pay Rs 10 for a bicycle, Rs 30 for a two-wheeler and Rs 100 for a car or SUV.
In Delhi, the fare for a bicycle is Rs 5, for a two-wheeler it is Rs 20 and for a car or SUV it is Rs 50 for 6 hours. From 16 o’clock till the operating time, the fare has been fixed at Rs 50 for two-wheeler and Rs 100 for car or SUV.
Real time information from Namo Bharat Connect app
For the convenience of passengers, real time parking availability information is available on Namo Bharat Connect app. Along with this, facilities like live train tracking, station navigation, last mile connectivity option and lost and found have also been provided. NCRTC has partnered to provide services like rental two-wheelers, cycles, feeder buses, cabs and autorickshaws at stations from Delhi to Meerut, so that the journey of passengers from home to destination can be completed smoothly and without any hindrance.
