Parvati meditated for years. During this time neither took food nor drank water. Pleased with Parvati’s penance, Lord Shiva promised to give him a boon.
While doing penance for years, Parvati’s body became black and Krishna. Then Lord Shiva ordered Ganga ji to bathe Parvati. After bathing with holy Ganges water, Parvati’s body became Gauravarna and became famous as ‘Mahagauri’. e 7
