Navy, Air Force and Army… To become Agniveer, it is necessary to pass these subjects in 12th, know the rules.


Every year in the country, under the Agneepath scheme, Agniveers are recruited for four years of service in the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy. The objective of the scheme is to give the youth an opportunity to serve the country and strengthen them through discipline, leadership and training. Under this scheme, recruitment is being planned for about 1 lakh posts every year, whereas at present about 50 thousand youth join the army as Agniveer every year.

Agniveer recruitment in Indian Army is done on two posts, GD (General Duty) and technical post. For GD Constable, it is mandatory for the candidate to have passed 10th, whereas for technical post, it is necessary to have passed 12th from Science stream. The age limit has been fixed from 17.5 years to 21 years. After four years of service, only 25 per cent will be inducted into permanent service, while 75 per cent are terminated. Former firefighters also get the benefit of reservation in paramilitary forces and police recruitment of states.

To join Air Force Agniveer Recruitment, the candidate must have passed 12th from Science stream. Along with this, there should be at least 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and English. Engineering diploma holders in Air Force are also eligible to apply. It is also necessary to pass physical fitness and medical tests.

What is important?

Indian Navy also recruits Agniveer every year. Its two posts are SSR (Senior Secondary Recruit) and MR (Matric Recruit). For SSR, the candidate must have passed 12th from Science stream and must have passed Mathematics, Physics along with at least one other subject like Chemistry, Biology or Computer Science. For the post of MR, it is mandatory to have 10th pass from a recognized board with at least 50% marks. It is necessary to pass medical and fitness test for both the posts.

application process

Applications for Agniveer recruitment are accepted through online process only. Candidates can fill the form by visiting the respective recruitment portal or the official website of Indian Army, Air Force and Navy. For this, necessary documents like educational certificate, age certificate and photo have to be uploaded. The form has to be submitted after paying the application fee. The selection process includes written examination, physical test and medical test.
