The sequel of the 2020 film ‘Raat Akeli Hai’ has been released. ‘Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders’ is streaming on Netflix from December 19 in which Nawazuddin Siddiqui returns as Jalit Yadav. In a special conversation with The Indian Express, he spoke openly about this role. In the film, he can be seen in the role of an investigating officer. Nawazuddin Siddiqui says that it was not easy to repeat his role in this sequel. The actor said, ‘It is better if it takes effort. But if you go into it thinking that it will be easy to do it again, then there will be more chances of it going wrong because you have taken it lightly.
‘But if this is a new film then it is a new beginning. Of course the core is the same. But this is a different and new issue which deals with the inequalities of the society. Apart from talking about his character, the actor has also praised the writer of the film. He told that the special thing about Smita Sharma is that her dialogues are very easy to remember. Every line has a connection with another.
Said this about indie cinema
Nawazuddin Siddiqui talked at length about his character in ‘Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansa Murders’. After this he also shared his reaction in support of indie cinema. The actor expressed his concern over the increasing problems in indie cinema. The actor believes that indie cinema has to face many difficulties. Due to less screens, these films are not able to reach many people and this is a big reason why many good films fail at the box office even before they can show their magic. He said, ‘We can only hope that time will come back. There are only a few films which have kept cinema alive. Cinema should not depend on marketing.
Taking his point further, he praised Payal Kapadia’s film ‘All We Imagine’. Let us tell you, this film of 2024 was in the competition section at the Cannes Film Festival after a long time. Not only this, the film also won an award in its name. Despite this, the movie did not get many screens in theaters and it was removed from the theaters in just 4 days. Concluding his talk, he finally said, ‘It is very dangerous to sideline Indie cinema.’
