The wait is about to end for thousands of medical PG candidates across the country, as the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has finally released the revised schedule of NEET PG 2025 counselling. Due to delay in approval of seat matrix, the date of commencement of counseling was postponed. Now MCC has reset the entire timeline, in which the biggest update is that the choice filling and choice locking of Round 1 will start from tomorrow i.e. 17th November.
This counseling will be applicable on 50 percent All India Quota (AIQ) seats, and 100 percent seats of deemed universities and central universities. Candidates will have to complete all the steps from registration to seat reporting online only through mcc.nic.in.
Process of Round 1 Counseling Choice Filling
The biggest change in the counseling of NEET PG 2025 is that the choice filling of Round 1 will now start from November 17, which will continue till the night of November 18. During this time, candidates will be able to choose their favorite college and course according to priority. The choice locking process will take place on November 18 from 4 pm to 11:55 pm. The verification of seat matrix across institutions before Round 1 will take place on October 23, while registration and fee payment will be completed by November 5. After this, MCC will do the seat allotment on 19th November and the result will be released on 20th November. Candidates who get seats will have to report between November 21 and 27, and the institutes will complete document verification between November 28 and 30.
Round 2 Counseling Choice Filling Process
The Round 2 process is shorter and faster. There will be seat matrix verification on 1st December and the facility of registration and option filling will be available from 2nd to 7th December. Choice locking will take place on the evening of 7th December. After this, seat allotment will take place on 8th and 9th December and the result will be declared on 10th December. Selected candidates will have to report from December 11 to 18, while document verification will take place from December 19 to 21. Round 2 is usually beneficial for those candidates who did not get a seat in Round 1 or want to upgrade.
Round 3 Choice Filling Process
The third and final regular round will begin with seat matrix verification on December 22. In this phase, registration will take place from 23rd to 28th December and the process of choice filling will continue from 24th to 28th December. Choice locking will take place on 28th December. Seat allotment will be completed on 29th and 30th December and the result will be released on 31st December 2025. Candidates will have to report between January 1 to January 8, 2026, while the institutes will conduct document verification from January 9 to 11. After this comes the Stray Vacancy round, which is the last chance for counselling. In this phase, if any seats remain vacant, they are filled.
In this round, seat matrix verification will be done on January 12, while registration and option filling will take place from January 13 to 18. Choice locking will take place on January 18, and the seat allotment process will be completed on January 19 to 20. Its result will be released on January 21 and candidates will be able to report till January 31, 2026.
