Politics has heated up regarding Pune Municipal Corporation elections. For the first time in the city, both factions of the Nationalist Congress Party, Sharad Pawar faction and Ajit Pawar faction, were seen sitting together and discussing the election strategy. This is considered to be the first formal and important meeting regarding seat distribution between the two parties.
No Mahavikas Aghadi, only both NCPs are together
According to sources, at present there is no plan to contest elections under Mahavikas Aghadi. Only the two Nationalist Congress parties are preparing to contest together in this election. It is believed that the better performance of Ajit Pawar faction in the Municipal Council and Mayor elections in Pune has strengthened this decision.
tussle over demand for seats
According to sources, Sharad Pawar faction has clearly demanded 40 to 45 seats. He argues that the party’s traditional support base and organizational strength in Pune entitles them to get this number. Whereas Ajit Pawar group is ready to give 30 seats. It was on this point that most of the discussion and brainstorming took place between the two sides.
Senior Pune leaders Subhash Jagtap and Sunil Tingre attended this meeting on behalf of Ajit Pawar faction. On the other hand, Vishal Tambe and Ankush Kakde from Sharad Pawar faction were present.
The atmosphere of the meeting is said to be formal but positive. Both sides agreed to take the talks forward while avoiding any kind of public statement.
The final decision on seat distribution will be taken together by Supriya Sule and Ajit Pawar. It is being told that there will be direct talks between the two leaders soon, after which the seat sharing formula will be decided.
There will be an important meeting again today
Here, today Sharad Pawar is going to meet faction leader Supriya Sule to share information about the seat sharing meeting and discuss further strategy. During this, Sharad Pawar faction will once again repeat the demand of 40 to 45 seats.
