Bollywood actor Akshay Khanna has become the second Indian actor after Shahrukh Khan whose films’ earnings reached more than Rs 2000 crore worldwide in a single calendar year. This fantastic achievement was achieved due to his two big Hindi releases, ‘Chhaava’ and ‘Dhurandhar’. These films are among the biggest commercial successes of the year. In this list, he has left behind big stars like Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan.

History created with two films in 2025
The year started with Laxman Utekar’s ‘Chhaava’. In this, Akshay played the role of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. This historical drama starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna became the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025. With worldwide earnings of Rs 809 crore, the film impressed both the audience and critics.

‘Dhurandhar’, which released in December, broke all records. Along with Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal, Akshay played the role of gangster Rehman Dacoit. So far this spy thriller has earned Rs 1167 crore and became the most successful Hindi release of 2025. Both the films together crossed the figure of Rs 2001 crore.

Shahrukh Khan had made a record of Rs 2685 crore in 2023 with ‘Pathan’, ‘Jawaan’ and ‘Dinky’. Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ crossed Rs 2000 crore in two years, but not in one year. Prabhas’s ‘Baahubali 2’ and Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2’ earned around Rs 1700 crore.
Won accolades as a villain
Akshaye Khanna is the only non-Khan actor who has done this feat. Despite playing the role of villain in both the films, his presence gave strength to the story. ‘Dhurandhar’ is still running and is joining the 1100 crore club. Now actor ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is going to create a stir.
