Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has resigned from his post on Tuesday (9 September). Oli was advised to leave the chair by Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel. He had said that the situation will improve only after resignation. Regarding ban on social media apps in Nepal Gen-z Are protesting. The President’s house was set on fire by the protesters.

Amidst the bad situation of the country President Ramchandra Paudel has also accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Oli. Oli is currently with the Nepali Army in terms of security.

What Nepal PM wrote in resignation

KP Sharma Oli wrote in his resignation, “According to Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Honorable President, Nepal, 31 Assad 2081 BS. After being appointed Prime Minister, and keeping in mind the current existing position present in the country, I have resigned from the post of Prime Minister from today according to Article 77 (1) (A) of the Constitution, so that I can take further steps towards the political solution and solution of problems according to the Constitution.

Oli has been Prime Minister of Nepal three times

KP Sharma Oli first became the Prime Minister of Nepal in 2015. He held the post of Prime Minister from October 2015 to August 2016. After this, he had to resign due to losing support. Oli became Prime Minister for the second time in 2018. He held the post from February 2018 to May 2021. Oli had to resign again. He held office for the second time for 3 years and 88 days. Oli was the PM from July 2024 to August 2025 for the third time.

What did the army chief advise to Oli

Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel had already advised Oli to resign. According to Nepali media, he said, “You leave power, only then the situation will improve.”
