According to Google, the model now shows characters and objects in a scene in a more accurate and consistent manner.

The strongest feature of Veo 3.1 is considered to be its character consistency. Now the character’s face, body language and overall look remain the same without changing during the video. Not only this, the background, texture and props used are also seen in the same form again and again in different scenes. This makes it much easier to create a long and continuous story by combining small clips.
Got native vertical support for Shorts and Reels
With this update, Google has added direct support for 9:16 aspect ratio. Now the videos will already be generated in vertical format, which can be uploaded to YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels or TikTok without cropping. Google says that this feature has been specially designed for those creators who create content quickly for mobile platforms.

Google has also paid special attention to video output quality in Veo 3.1. 1080p videos now look sharper and clearer, while the option of 4K upscaling has also been added, although this feature is not yet available on every platform. The new Ingredients to Video feature is available in YouTube Shorts, YouTube Create app and Gemini app. Whereas business users and developers can use it through Flow app, Gemini API, Vertex AI and Google Vids.
