India China direct flights: There are signs of change at the diplomatic level in the relations between India and neighboring country China. After a long distance of five years, direct flights have started again between the two countries. On Sunday, October 26, Indigo flight created history by taking its first flight from Kolkata to Guangzhou, China. This flight has not only brought new facilities for the passengers, but is also very important for the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
What about Indigo?
A few days ago, an official announcement was made by Indigo that from October 26, non-stop flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou will be available on daily basis. Passengers will be able to travel to China on Indigo’s Airbus A320neo aircraft.
It was told by Indio that the main objective of this flight between India and China is to strengthen tourism, trade and political partnership between the two countries. According to media reports, Indio’s plane took off from Kolkata Airport at 10:06 pm. The flight reached Guangzhou at around 4:05 am (China time).
Why were the flights stopped?
Direct flights between India and China were closed since 2020. Direct flights were stopped due to the clash in Galwan Valley and the Covid pandemic. Due to the softening of relations between the two countries and ongoing diplomatic talks at global level forums, these flights have been able to resume.
Also, Indigo will soon start direct flight service between Delhi and China. Next month, direct flights to Guangzhou will start from Delhi Airport from 10 November 2025. Similar initiative is also being taken by China. Chinese airline company China Eastern Airlines is also going to start its direct flights between Delhi and Shanghai from 9 November 2025.
