The number of road accidents in India is very high. To reduce these, the government is preparing to introduce a new and special technology, whose name is Vehicle-to-Vehicle i.e. V2V technology. In this technology, vehicles will be able to talk to each other directly. For this neither internet nor mobile network will be required. The aim of the government is that the driver should get information about the danger in advance, so that he can take precautions in time and the accident can be avoided. Let us know in detail.
How will the V2V system work?
- Actually, under V2V technology, a small device will be installed in every vehicle, which will look like a SIM card. This device will continuously send and receive signals from other vehicles running nearby or parked on the roadside. As soon as two vehicles come too close or there is a danger of collision, the system will immediately alert the driver. With this, the driver will know in advance that there is danger ahead and he can apply brakes.
How will technology help in preventing accidents?
- This technology will be very beneficial especially in those situations where serious accidents occur frequently. For example, incidents of collision from behind with vehicles parked on the roadside will reduce. During fog, the driver will receive alerts even when the vehicle in front is not visible. This system will give timely warning even in case of sudden braking in high speed traffic or reduction in distance, due to which an accident can be averted.
What did Nitin Gadkari say?
- Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the government wants to implement this technology soon. He said that fog and vehicles parked on the road become the cause of many major accidents. V2V technology will alert the driver in such cases in advance. Besides, new safety features will also be added to the buses, which will further strengthen the safety of the passengers.
When will V2V technology be implemented?
- According to the Transport Ministry, this technology can be introduced by the end of 2026. First it will be installed in new vehicles and later it will be gradually implemented in other vehicles also. The government will spend about Rs 5,000 crore on this project.
