Pataudi trophy renamed: India and England’s five -match Test series (Cricket India vs England) is going to start from June 20. Recently, news came that the cricket boards of India and England have decided to change the name of Pataudi Trophy. It was told that the name of the Pataudi Trophy is being changed to Tendulkar-Randerson Trophy. It has now been revealed that the name ‘Pataudi’ has not been completely removed from the India-England series.
According to a report published in Rev Sports, BCCI and ECB officials definitely wanted the name ‘Pataudi’ to be associated with the series. He also wanted to honor the series by naming Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson. Citing a source, it was told that Pataudi Legacy is being insulted, these things are not true.
The report said, “Iftikhar and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi have played for both countries. Mansoor (Tiger Pataudi) has been one of the best captains in India and can never be insulted. He has been attempted to connect this series with both history and present.”
The name of Indian veteran will not be removed
This report claimed that a big announcement can be done in the next few days. It is now almost certain that the name ‘Pataudi’ will be associated with the series, while the trophy will be known by the names of Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson.
Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi also represented India and England. He scored 199 runs in his 6 Test matches. On the other hand, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi played a total of 46 Test matches in his career, in which he scored 2,793 runs. Mansoor was also known as Tiger Pataudi, he also scored 6 centuries and 16 fifty in his career.
