Concern about attacks on Christian community
Nigeria has been struggling with a serious security crisis for the last several years. Armed gangs and criminal groups are active in remote areas of the country, which carry out incidents like attacks on villages, murders and kidnapping for ransom. Especially in the northern and north-western states, the law and order situation is considered very weak. Concern has already been expressed at the international level regarding attacks on the Christian community. Last year, America had expressed serious concern about the safety of Christians in Nigeria and said that thousands of Christians have lost their lives in violence.
population of nigeria
In Nigeria, which has a population of about 22 crores, Muslim and Christian population is considered almost equal. Boko Haram and its affiliated fundamentalist organizations have been spreading violence for years. Although the violence in northern Nigeria affects both Muslim and Christian communities, attacks on churches have been of particular concern internationally.
