According to the report of Hindustan Times, Anurag Kashyap has given the reason for releasing ‘Nishanchi 2’ quietly on OTT. He said releasing ‘Nishanchi 2’ on OTT was his suggestion, and a “collective decision between Amazon (the producers) and us”.
He said, “If the audience had come for the first part, then the second part would not have been released in theatres, this could not have happened. And because the reaction of most of the people was that everyone found the film incomplete, hence it was decided to give them the complete experience.”

The direct OTT release of the second installment of ‘Nishanchi’ was not promoted. Elaborating on this, Anurag says that this happened because any film requires a period of eight weeks between theaters and OTT release.
Anurag Kashyap said, “No marketing was being done due to theatre-OTT rules… Theaters do not allow the promotion of the film or its release anywhere for eight weeks, and OTT has to do its work. It is another matter that the theaters themselves do not follow it. If the film is not released, they cancel the shows and take the film out, due to which the film does not come to people’s lips. Non-tent-pole That’s how they treat films. It’s very one-sided, and I’ve seen my films rejected by the exhibitors themselves. We were lucky to have a studio, which also had a streaming platform, producing and supporting us.”
