Nishikant dubey remarks row: On Saturday (April 19), BJP MP from Godda Lok Sabha seat in Jharkhand Nishikant Dubey made a controversial statement about the Supreme Court and Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna. His statement has created a stir in political corridors. Many big leaders of the opposition including Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra have reacted sharply.
Mahua Moitra targeted Nishikant Dubey
Mahua Moitra has made a tweet on the social media platform X. He wrote, “Keep in mind- Pitbul does nothing without his boss’s gesture. It is good that now the whole country is seeing how the BJP is trying to pressurize the judiciary. It is an open conspiracy to intimidate the judges. It is a very embarrassing time for the country when people are running illiterate and forcing them.” However, he has not directly mentioned Nishikant Dubey in his post.

What did Nishikant Dubey say?
On the previous day, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey from Godda in Jharkhand made a big and controversial statement about the Supreme Court and Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna, which is receiving sharp reactions from the opposition. The BJP MP said, “The Supreme Court is responsible for inciting religious war in the country. The Supreme Court is going out of its limits. If the Supreme Court has to give a decision in every case, then there is no need for Parliament and Legislative Assembly. They should be closed.
Nishikant Dubey accused Sanjeev Khanna
Along with this, Nishikant Dubey directly accused Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna, saying, “Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna is responsible for all the conditions like civil war in the country.”
Opposition attacker, BJP made distance
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who made a controversial statement about Sanjeev Khanna, has been distanced by his own party (BJP) but many opposition parties including Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and AIMIM have strongly criticized his statement.
Owaisi’s sharp reversal
Asaduddin Owaisi, head of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), said, “Such a statement is not just the court contempt, but it is a dangerous attempt to weaken the constitutional system of the country.” He lashed out at Nishikant Dubey and said, “You guys are tubelight and threatening the Supreme Court. Do you know what is Article 142? This article was created by Babasaheb Ambedkar.” Owaisi also questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi is silent on such statements. He said, “If PM Modi does not stop such people, the country will not forgive them.”

What did BJP President JP Nadda say?
The Bharatiya Janata Party separated itself from these statements after the dispute over the controversial statements of Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma. BJP national president JP Nadda gave a clarification in the matter, saying, “MPs Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma have given the statements about the judiciary and the Chief Justice of the country, the Bharatiya Janata Party has nothing to do with them. These are their personal views.”

Congress leader Salman Khurshid also reacted strongly
Congress leader Salman Khurshid has also reacted strongly to Nishikant Dubey’s statement. He said that if the question arises on the Supreme Court or any court, it is very unfortunate. He said that the final decision in our judicial system is not of the government, but of the Supreme Court. If someone does not understand its basic principle, then it is a matter of concern for the Constitution.
