Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has filed nomination to go to Rajya Sabha. Meanwhile, the issue of prohibition law implemented in Bihar has started. A few days ago, a demand for review of liquor ban was raised by leaders of different parties in NDA. Now RJD’s rebel leader Ritu Jaiswal has given a surprising reaction.
Ritu Jaiswal has posted on X. He said that amid the discussions about sending Nitish Kumar to Rajya Sabha, a new question is arising in the politics of Bihar – is all this not a part of the strategy to end liquor prohibition? In the last few days, statements of many leaders have come out, in which it is being said that Bihar has not benefited much from liquor ban and the state is losing revenue due to it.
He said that on the other hand, there is also discussion that the state treasury is under pressure after the financial assistance given to Jeevika Didis before the assembly elections. In such a situation, it is natural to raise the question whether the ground is being prepared to end liquor prohibition in order to increase revenue.

‘It was not easy to remove the prohibition law during Nitish’s tenure’
Ritu Jaiswal says, “It is also discussed that it was not easy to abolish the liquor prohibition law during the tenure of Nitish Kumar, because it was a decision related to his political and social respect. In such a situation, some people believe that for this reason, efforts are being made to gradually sideline him.”
Making prohibition an issue, Ritu Jaiswal also raised the question that it had brought relief to the women of every village. There was hope of reduction in cases like domestic violence, fights and financial ruin of families. Even today, when prohibition is in force, incidents of crime keep coming to light, in such a situation, it is not difficult to imagine what the situation would be if the sale of liquor starts openly.
