It has become clear that NDA is going to form the government once again in Bihar and Nitish Kumar is close to returning as Chief Minister. The trends released on 14 November 2025 have indicated that NDA has comfortably crossed the majority mark and the path to government formation has become clear.
Both JDU and BJP have made it clear that Nitish Kumar will be the Chief Minister and now the official announcement is awaited. This election result has proved that the dialogue “Tiger Abhi Zinda Hai” written in the posters is not just a slogan but also Nitish’s strength in the electoral field.
Many allegations against Nitish Kumar
Nitish Kumar’s dominance in politics has once again been seen strongly. The opposition kept claiming that Nitish Kumar’s health and age no longer make him eligible for the post of Chief Minister, but the NDA presented him as the strongest face in the entire election. The film-style posters put up during the election campaign, in which Nitish was called ‘Tiger’, created an impact and the results have also confirmed this image. His ability to repeatedly change sides in the politics of Bihar and keep the sources of power in his hands every time has once again proved his experienced leadership.
Was this time’s Bihar election special?
It is important to understand why this time the election was very special. Bihar’s 24.3 crore population celebrated democracy with a record turnout of 67.13% in two phases and today when the votes are being counted, the NDA tsunami seems to be defeating all political calculations. According to preliminary results, JD(U) is leading on 81 seats, BJP on 91 seats, Chirag Paswan’s LJP(RV) on 21 and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM on 4 seats. Overall, NDA is leading in more than 190 seats whereas only 122 seats were required for majority. In such a situation, it is undeniable that Nitish Kumar is moving towards the fifth term and the process of government formation can start in a few hours.
On the other hand, this election is proving to be very disappointing for the Grand Alliance. Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD, which was expected to emerge as the largest party, seems to be limited to only 26 seats while Congress is also stuck at around six seats. Overall, the grand alliance seems to be stuck between 48 to 55 seats and even the slight lead seen in the initial trends has been completely washed away in the wave of NDA.
