Bihar Election Result 2025: It is about the 2015 assembly elections, when Nitish Kumar had made Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “DNA” statement a big issue. Calling it an insult to Biharis, he had said, “They said that my DNA is messed up. But who am I? I am your representative. When they are questioning my DNA, it is an insult to the entire Bihar.” Nitish had even appealed to the public to cut their hair and nails and collect samples for DNA testing. In that election, BJP had a direct fight with the RJD-JDU grand alliance and as a result, BJP got a crushing defeat.
But the picture has changed in the 2025 elections. This time Nitish Kumar and BJP were in the fray together. The opposition tried its best to question Nitish’s mental condition and his image. He was even called “Bhishma Pitamah of the corrupt”. Despite this, the trends and mandate clearly show that the people of the state have expressed confidence in the NDA. However, this mandate has also given another big message to Nitish—one that shatters his old “DNA” arrogance.
Mention of 2015 is necessary because at that time RJD, JDU, Congress, SP, NCP, INLD and other parties had formed a grand alliance. RJD and JDU had contested elections on 101-101 seats, while Congress had contested 41 seats and BJP had contested 157 seats. When the results came, RJD became the largest party with 80 seats, JDU got 71 seats and BJP was reduced to 53. After this result, Nitish again became the Chief Minister, but in 2017 he suddenly left the Grand Alliance and formed the government with BJP.
Now the election data of 2025 is presenting an interesting picture. In 2015, Nitish had described his DNA as the DNA of Bihar, but the current mandate shows that not only Nitish but also BJP is deeply present in the DNA of Bihar. NDA’s massive victory indicates that Nitish’s old DNA “arrogance” has now been completely broken.
If we look at the performance of JDU and BJP fighting on 101-101 seats, BJP seems to be overpowering JDU this time. As a result, the result of this election has sent the message far and wide across Bihar that the balance of power is no longer the same as before and the preferences of the people have also changed.
