During the ongoing Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in the city of Tianjin, China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met an important bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This meeting lasted for about 50 minutes. In this meeting, the two leaders discussed in detail the strength of mutual relationships, global issues and the current Ukraine crisis.
Talking to Putin, PM Modi said, “I always feel that we have a memorable experience. We get an opportunity to share information on many issues. We are in constant contact and regular high-level meetings have been held between the two countries.”
He further said that 140 crore people in India are eagerly waiting for the 23rd India-Russia Summit to be held in December 2025. PM Modi said that this enthusiasm reflects the depth and prevalence of special and privileged partnership between the two countries.
India-Russia stood together in difficult times: PM Modi
Describing the India-Russian relations as special, Prime Minister Modi said, “India and Russia have always supported each other, no matter how difficult the situation is. Our close cooperation is not only important for the people of both countries but it is also very important for global peace, stability and prosperity.”
PM Modi raises the issue of Ukraine war
In his conversation, PM Modi also raised the issue of Ukraine War. He said, “We have been continuously discussing the ongoing struggle in Ukraine. We welcome all the efforts made recently for peace. We hope that all the parties will move forward creatively. This struggle will have to be found out as soon as possible and to find a way to establish permanent peace as soon as possible. It is a call of humanity.”
President Putin reacts like this
During the bilateral talks, Russian President Putin described PM Modi as his friend. During this, Putin has described India as an important partner for Russia. He said that our relations have been strongly strengthened.
