North East Small Finance Bank: The North East Small Finance Bank Limited (NESFB) has changed its name to Slice Small Finance Bank (SHFB). The change was made after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a notification on 14 May 2025. This update was published in India’s Gazette on 16 May 2025. The RBI listing now recognizes slices SFB as a scheduled bank under the RBI Act, 1934 with all the statutory rights and obligations kept earlier.
Mergeer with slices in October 2024
Let us know that this rebranding was done in October 2024 with a merger of Bangalore -based startup slices with NESFB with Guwahati headquarters. With this, it has now become a new -age banking unit, which aims to connect the digital innovation of slices with NESFB’s regional banking characteristics.
NESFB, made in 2011, played an important role in promoting financial inclusion in Northeast India. The bank’s intention is to expand its branches now. Also, by focusing more on technology, customers’ convenience and financial access, they have to spread their schemes and offers to more people.
What about older documents now?
Now the biggest question is that what will happen to the passbook, checkbook, debit card that was issued before the name of the bank is changed? According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, even after changing the name of a bank, customers will be able to use old banking documents like passbook, checkbook and debit cards. These will be valid until the bank is asked to change the customers themselves to change them.
Will IFSC code change?
According to a media report, talking about this, Solomon & Company’s partner Kinjal Champneria says that after changing the name, the bank gradually issues new names and new passbooks, checkbooks for people. This entire process takes a few months, which the bank gives to its customers. As far as the IFSC code is concerned, this code also does not change automatically. If the bank ever decides to change it in future, then customers are already updated about it.
