Who is Ghazala Hashmi?
Ghazala Hashmi was born in 1964 in Hyderabad. His ancestral origin is in Karachi, Pakistan. Hashmi came to America from India with her family at the age of 4. Hashmi was raised in a small town in Georgia. There he learned how open dialogue can bridge cultural and socio-economic divides and unite people from all walks of life.
Hashmi has a BA in English from Georgia Southern University and a PhD from Emory University. She moved to Richmond with her husband Azhar in 1991, where they currently live. According to Fox News, before becoming a member of the Virginia State Senate, Hashmi worked as a professor at both the University of Richmond and Reynolds Community College for nearly three decades. He is currently a State Senator in Virginia.
