BJP has said in its post that Congress’s claims are not only misleading, but they are completely false. They are designed to undermine India’s sovereignty and diplomatic decisions for their own cheap political gains.
The attack did not take place in Indian waters, claims BJP
BJP has said that this attack took place on the International Water Border. About 74 km away from the coast of Sri Lanka. Which is not in Indian waters. It is not under the authority and control of India. It is reported that the incident took place at a distance of 250 nautical miles and more from the Indian coast. It is far beyond the border of India’s territorial waters or Exclusive Economic Zone.
Under international maritime law, no country is responsible for incidents occurring in international waters due to geographical proximity. There is a very large area of the Indian Ocean. Many countries are included in this. Proximity does not mean accountability or control.
BJP said that despite Sri Lanka being in SAR zone, as soon as MRCC Colombo received information about the crisis. The Indian Navy immediately started a complete search and rescue operation. It deployed a long-range maritime patrol aircraft within a few hours. Another aircraft with air-droppable life rafts was kept on standby. Sent INS Tarangini to another place. INS Ikshak has been sent from Kochi to continue the humanitarian search for the missing people.
BJP said that Congress gives priority to anti-government and anti-India rhetoric instead of truth, country’s interest and basic facts.
