Former US Pentagon official Michael Rubin gave a taunting statement on US President Donald Trump. He said that Russian President Vladimir Putin got a warm welcome in India, for this it is not Putin but Donald Trump who deserves the Nobel Prize. It is because of Trump that India and Russia have come so close. That means now even big people of America are taking a jibe at Trump.
Because of Trump, Putin got the highest respect in India
Rubin said in an interview to ANI that Putin’s visit to India was very positive from Moscow’s point of view. India gave Putin such respect which was not found anywhere else. He said, ‘I say that Donald Trump should get the Nobel Prize because he has connected India and Russia in this way.’
But Rubio also raised the question that how successful will the agreements reached in this tour actually be? He believes that many agreements were made because of India’s anger with Trump. India was angry with the way Trump treated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India.
Two different views of American policies
Rubin said that if you are a Trump supporter, this tour will feel like ‘I told you so’. Trump will feel that India’s coming closer to Russia proves his point. But if you are against Trump like 65% of Americans, then all this is the result of Trump’s big mistake.
Rubin accused Trump of turning America-India relations upside down. Trump’s decisions were influenced by flattery or bribery efforts from Pakistan, Turkey and Qatar.
It is a big mistake to weaken the strategic partnership with India.
Rubin strongly criticized Trump’s India policy. He said that many people in Washington are surprised at how Trump weakened the strategic partnership with India. This was a big mistake, which will harm America in the long run. Rubin says that Trump will never admit his mistake. He will call this the success of his foreign policy.
Rubin gave advice to America only regarding India
He advised America not to preach to India on buying Russian oil. Putin had promised to provide uninterrupted oil supply to India. Rubin said, ‘Americans do not understand how much energy India needs. India is the most populous country in the world and will soon become the third largest economy. Indians have elected Modi to protect their interests.
America itself buys oil from Russia when options are less. If America does not want India to buy Russian oil, then how will it provide cheap and required quantity of oil? If the answer is no, it is better to remain silent. India has to take care of its own security first.
Targeted at the closeness of America and Pakistan
Rubin said that America should declare Pakistan a country that harbors terrorism. If Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir comes to America, he should be arrested.
