The first match of the three-match ODI series between India and South Africa is to be played on Sunday. Before this match to be played in Ranchi, Indian captain KL Rahul held a press conference on Saturday. During this, he admitted that his team India’s struggle against spin on home pitches is a matter of concern. However, he also said that at present he has no answer to deal with it.

Let us tell you that South Africa has clean swept the Indian team in the two-match Test series. Earlier, New Zealand had whitewashed India in the three-match Test series. In both the series, Indian batsmen were seen struggling against foreign spinners.

I don’t have any definite answer- KL Rahul

“We have not played spin well in the last few seasons. I really don’t know why we were able to do it earlier and why we are not able to do it now. I don’t have any definite answers. All we can do is individually and as a batting group see how we can improve,” Indian captain KL Rahul said in the press conference before the first ODI in Ranchi.

He said that the batsmen will have to look for technical and strategic changes and it will be a long process. Rahul further said, “This is not going to change overnight. We will look at the needs of improvement and hopefully we will be better prepared by the Sri Lanka and Australia series. We will also take advice from the senior players who have played spin very well.” Rahul said that Indian batsmen will have to find individual answers and improve their technique if they want to regain their traditional edge against spin.

What did KL Rahul say on the return of Virat and Rohit?

When asked about Virat Kohli’s rigorous training sessions, Rahul acknowledged the importance of strike rotation in the ODI format. He said, in ODI, each run is as important as fours and sixes. Virat is expert in this. We all keep learning from him. He is excited to be back and his presence is always important.

Both Kohli and Rohit Sharma are returning to the team. Regarding this, Rahul said, the importance of both of them is very big at any time. Having senior players in the team gives more confidence to the dressing room. We are very happy that they are here. Winning is the most important thing and we are focusing on that.

KL Rahul’s big statement on Ravindra Jadeja

Rahul also welcomed the return of Ravindra Jadeja, who is joining the team for the first time after the ICC Champions Trophy in March. He said, “Jaddu has performed well for India time and again. His experience is huge for us.” Rahul also said that players like Ruturaj Gaikwad are regularly left out due to a stable top order, but opportunities will come.

Difficult for Rishabh Pant to play

Rahul said that the playing eleven will be decided later and he did not say anything about giving the start to Rishabh Pant. However, it is accepted that Pant can play only as a batsman also. However, from the indications being received, it seems that Pant will not be a part of the playing eleven. Rahul did wicketkeeping in the practice session.
