If you dream of serving the country and wish to become an officer in the Indian Navy, then there is a great news for you. Indian Navy has issued a new notification for the recruitment of officers under Short Service Commission (SSC). This recruitment will be done for January 2027 (ST 27 course).
Through this recruitment, more than 260 posts will be filled in technical and other branches in the Navy. The special thing is that both unmarried men and women can apply for this recruitment. Interested candidates will be able to apply through online medium.
When will the applications start?
The online application process for Indian Navy SSC Recruitment 2026 will start from 24 January 2026. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website of Indian Navy. It is important to read all the eligibility conditions carefully before applying.
Who can apply?
To become an SSC officer in the Indian Navy, a candidate must have educational qualification. The qualifications for different posts have also been kept different. For most technical posts, B.E./B.Tech degree is necessary. The candidate must have at least 60 percent marks. For some posts, PG Diploma with B.E./B.Tech (1st Class), MBA (1st Class) or B.Sc. Apart from this, candidates with M.Sc., M.Tech or MA degree can also apply with 60 percent marks in the relevant subject. Eligibility may be different for each post, hence candidates must check post-wise details.
special qualification posts
There are some posts for which additional certificates are required. For the post of Pilot, the candidate must have a valid CPL (Commercial Pilot License). Merchant Navy candidates who have Mate/Master certificate or First Class Engineer certificate recognized by the Government of India can also apply for certain posts. Therefore, there are great opportunities in Navy for those candidates who have special qualifications or experience.
How will the selection process be?
Selection in Indian Navy SSC Recruitment is done entirely on the basis of SSB interview and medical examination. Selected candidates will be called for 5 days SSB interview. In which the first day will be Intelligence Test (OIR) and Image Perception and Description Test (PP&DT). This will be followed by psychological test, group work (GTO) and personal interview the next day. Candidates who clear the SSB interview are further medically examined in a military hospital.
How will the final selection be done?
The final merit list of the candidates is prepared on the basis of performance in SSB interview and medical test. The meritorious candidates will be appointed as Short Service Commission Officers in the Indian Navy.
