For the election of the National President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday (January 16, 2026), BJP Organization Election Officer K. Laxman issued the notification. Nitin Nabin will file nomination for the election of National President on Monday (January 19, 2026). The formal announcement will be made on Tuesday (January 20, 2026).
BJP is preparing to make a grand program for the election of the National President. One proposal each has been invited from all the states for the nomination of Nitin Nabin. The proposers will be Chief Ministers and senior leaders of all the states including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Leaders of all states were asked to come to Delhi
BJP National Working President Nitin Nabin will file his nomination on Monday (January 19, 2026). For this, Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers, State Presidents, State Organization General Secretaries and in-charges of all the states have been asked to come to Delhi. Proposals have been invited from all the states for the nomination of Nitin Nabin, so that the message is sent that there is support for the new president from all the states. Along with this, Chief Ministers and big leaders of all the states will remain as proposers.
What are the rules according to the BJP constitution?
According to the Constitution of BJP, for the election of the National President, proposals are required from at least five states. In which each set has 20 proposers, but BJP has invited proposals from all the states, so that a big message of everyone’s support can be given.
One form each for the proponents has been sent to all the states. In which names of 20 proposers have to be filled in each form from all the states and after getting the signatures of the proposers, the form has to be sent back to Delhi by Sunday (January 18), so that all the formalities can be completed before the nomination on 19th.
All election process will be completed in BJP headquarters
After this, Nitin Nabin will be formally announced as the president on Tuesday (January 20). In this program, all senior leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of all BJP ruled states, state presidents, state organization general secretaries, state in-charges and national officials will participate. The election process will be completed at the BJP headquarters. Prime Minister Modi can also give his address on the occasion.
After being elected National President, Nitin Nabin will also hold a formal meeting with all the national officials on Wednesday (January 21, 2026). Along with all the national officials, state presidents, state organization general secretaries and state in-charges will also participate in this meeting. Nitin Nabin will also address all the officials on this occasion.
A total of 5,708 voters will vote for the BJP President election.
The names of 5,708 voters are in the voter list released for the BJP National President election. This voter list has been prepared on the basis of organization elections of 30 states, where the process of elections for State Council and Central Council has been completed. Senior BJP leaders Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti are not included in the published voter list. However, the process of organization elections has been completed only in 30 states. Organization elections are pending in states like Delhi, Haryana, Tripura, Karnataka.
