Madhya Pradesh government has made major changes in the rules of family pension and made divorced daughters also eligible for it. In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, it has been decided that now along with unmarried and widowed daughters in the state, divorced daughters will also be included in the scope of family pension of parents. The government has made this change in the list of eligible members by amending Rule 44 of Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Pension Rules 2026. According to officials, earlier due to some technical limitations of the rules, divorced daughters were deprived of family pension. And after the new amendment they will also be able to get financial support. Which rules were approved?
The Cabinet has also approved Madhya Pradesh Civil Service Rules 2026 and Madhya Pradesh Civil Service Rules. The Finance Department has been authorized to publish these rules. The government says that with the new provisions, settlement of pension related matters will be easy and time bound. Apart from this, Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Rules 2026 and rules related to gratuity payment under NPS have also been approved. These rules will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
What are included in the new provisions?
In the new rules, provisions like family pension in case of death of the member, voluntary retirement, e-service book, combination of previous service of Central and State Government have been included. A clear procedure for employee and employer’s contribution during the suspension period, calculation of contribution rates, fixing responsibility in case of delay, exit in case of retirement or resignation has yet to be decided. The system of eligibility and payment of gratuity for government employees covered under NPS has also been clarified. Besides, provisions like recovery from gratuity in case of departmental inquiry, stopping employer contribution and starting inquiry after retirement have also been included in the rules.
How to apply for the scheme?
The benefit of family pension is given through the concerned department as per the prescribed procedure. In such a situation, eligible unmarried, widowed or divorced daughters will have to apply to the concerned department or treasury office with the necessary documents. Detailed procedures and guidelines will be issued after publication of the rules. The government says that this decision will provide relief to thousands of women in the state who are dependent on their parents after divorce and who do not have a permanent source of income.
