There can be a big change in the education system in India. The central government is now going to make Ayurveda a part of studies in schools and colleges. Union Minister of AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav has informed that NCERT and UGC have started work on new syllabus. The ministry says that this step has been taken to connect the new generation with overall health and Indian tradition.
The Ministry of AYUSH posted on its official X (first Twitter) account and said that in the coming time, Ayurveda studies can start in schools and higher education institutions. Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav himself re-tweeted this information. He said that it will not just study, but will be a medium to adopt the Indian tradition of lifestyle and health.
Work started on Ayurveda Karikulam
According to sources, NCERT and UGC are preparing Curriculum together. Curriculum module is under discussion, so that Ayurveda can be included in a simple and practical way in both school education and higher education. The minister said that some states like Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh have already started adding Indian knowledge system to their education system.
When will the new syllabus be implemented?
It is reported that Ayurveda’s new syllabus can be added to books from the next academic session (2026-27). That is, in the coming time, students will be taught ancient knowledge related to science and mathematics as well as the principles of Ayurveda, home remedies and health. However, its official date has not been announced yet.
Clinical trials for Ayurveda
The government is adopting a scientific approach to increase the credibility of Ayurveda. High quality clinical trials are being done with the help of Central Ayurvedic Science Research Council (CCRAS) and other institutions. Along with this, standards are being set for Ayurvedic treatment in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). This will ensure that Ayurveda is not only a part of the tradition, but also scientifically reliable.
Allopathy and AYUSH
Union Minister Jadhav made it clear that Ayurveda and allopathy are not rivals to each other. Rather, both these systems are complementary to each other. Through the National AYUSH Mission and AYUSH grid, the government is working towards providing better and cheap health services to the general public by connecting the benefits of both methods.
