Zerodha has now started the facility of opening the same mobile number and second Demat account from login. With this facility, you can keep long -term holdings in one account and trading in another. This will keep the portfolio clear and tax filing will be easier. However, you cannot do direct trading with this secondary account – for this the shares will have to be transferred to the main account, which will be charged ₹ 13 + 18% GST. Zerodha will charge ₹ 300 + GST annually for this feature. This facility is currently available only for individual accounts.
