The Uttar Pradesh government has taken such a decision for school going children, hearing which children are happy and parents are also feeling relieved. To reduce the study burden and make learning fun, the state government has now decided to keep ‘Bagless Days’ for 10 days throughout the year for children of classes 6 to 8 in government schools. In these bagless days, children will neither bring heavy bags nor will there be classes with only books and copies. In return, they will get great opportunities for sports, activities, practical learning and creative work.
Children and parents have been complaining for a long time that the weight of school bags affects both the body and mental stress of children. Children get burdened with books and studies become a burden for them. In view of this problem, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken a big step and implemented Bagless Day in the entire academic session.
What does the government believe?
The government believes that children learn more from experience than just from books. Sports, ground activities and outdoor learning boost children’s confidence. Children understand their interests and talents better during activities. Studying with fun does not create fear in children, but increases the joy of learning.
What will happen in bagless days?
Bagless Day is not a holiday. Rather, it will be a day when the school will present education in a new form to the children. Many fun and educational activities will be organized for the children, including sports and ground activities, children will play different types of games in the field. Running, team games, small group tasks and sports activities will teach them teamwork along with their physical development. Speeches, debates and general knowledge quizzes will be conducted for the children to present their views and sharpen their thinking. This will increase children’s speaking skills and self-confidence.
Apart from this, sometimes they will be taken out of the classroom for a picnic or a visit to some special place so that children can learn by seeing and understanding things. Creative activities like drawing, painting, music, dance and small theater acts will enhance the imagination of children. Children will make small projects out of books. With this he will understand things by doing it himself.
