ITR Filing: Salary employees often have to file income tax returns (ITR) for the application of TDS refund. Even if his income is less than taxable limit. The government’s plan is now to make this process easier. The next Income Tax Bill 2025 includes provision for this.
Now it will be easy to claim refund
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the committee believes that those with less income from the taxable limit find it unnecessary and cumbersome to claim TDS refund. The committee suggests that taxpayers should get the facility to claim refund by filling a simple form on the basis of their Form 26AS.
Under the new feature, instead of filing the entire ITR, a form will be introduced, which is easy to fill. This form will take TDS data automatically from Form 26AS. This new form is being designed by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). Its purpose is to speed up the process and eliminate the need to file full returns.
Big relief for low income
Under the new tax system, income up to 12.75 lakhs annually is free. However, many times companies cut TDS for not submitting documents. In such a situation, a person has to file a complete ITR to claim mere refund. This burden is expected to be reduced soon.
Data access facility
The committee has also suggested on data access. It will be clarified in the new bill that the Income Tax Officer should have access to taxpayers’ digital devices, records and income-expenditure data to ensure transparency in tax administration. This rule is likely to be implemented from April 1, 2026 after the Income Tax Bill has been passed in the budget session of 2025-26 of Parliament.
