‘Golmaal’ is Bollywood’s most popular comedy franchise. Fans are eagerly waiting for its fifth installment. During the theater screening of Ajay Devgan’s previous release ‘Son of Sardaar 2’, filmmaker Rohit Shetty had light-heartedly confirmed that work on the fifth installment of the Golmaal franchise is officially underway. Now, a new report reveals that a big name is going to be added to the cast which may change the tone of the film considerably.
Akshay Kumar’s entry in Ajay Devgan’s Golmaal 5?
Let us tell you that according to a report by Variety India, Akshay Kumar has joined Golmaal 5. If true, this would be a major casting change for the franchise. According to reports, Akshay has been cast as the lead villain opposite Ajay Devgan. The report also states that the new installment will have fantasy elements, which will present a new story and move beyond the usual prank-based situational humor of the previous films.
Golmaal 5 is also the sixth collaboration of Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan in 32 years, before which they have worked together in Suhaag (1994), Khakee (2004), Insaan (2005), Suryavanshi (2021), and Singham Again (2024). With Akshay stepping into the villain role and Rohit Shetty trying to increase the scale and grandeur of the film, Golmaal 5 could be one unpredictable ride that fans will definitely love!
golmaal 5 cast
Ajay Devgan returns as the lead actor of the franchise, and will share the same familiar fun with Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Khemu and Shreyas Talpade. The huge cast also includes Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari and Ashwini Kalsekar, who will ensure that the special craziness of Golmaal remains intact. Sharman Joshi is expected to return, while Kareena Kapoor Khan’s casting has not been confirmed yet. This actress was a part of Golmaal Returns and Golmaal 3.
When will Golmaal 5 be released?
According to the same report by Variety India, the production of the comedy film is set to begin in Mumbai’s Film City by the end of February, and the makers are looking to release it in theaters in early 2027.
