Whatsapp New Feature: WhatsApp is constantly working on new and useful features for its users. In this context, the company is now testing a feature which will make the experience of group chat easier. The name of this new feature is ‘@all’ or ‘Mention Everyone’, which will allow users to tag the entire group at once.
What is the ‘@All’ feature of WhatsApp?
The new ‘@all’ feature is currently seen in WhatsApp Beta for Android (version 2.25.31.9) and is being rolled out to some beta testers via Google Play Store. Earlier this feature was seen in the development stage but now it is visible inside the mention menu. With its help, users can alert the entire group simultaneously so that no important message is missed even if any member has muted the notification.
How will the new ‘@All’ feature work?
Whenever the ‘@all’ command is used in a group chat, this feature will tag every member of the group without mentioning each one individually. This will be especially beneficial for large groups, teams, communities and family groups where many messages often get ignored. The purpose of this feature is to facilitate better group communication and delivery of important messages.
Who will get the right to use it?
According to the report of WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has set some limitations regarding its use. In small groups (up to 32 members), everyone will be able to use ‘@all’. In large groups (more than 32 members) only group administrators will be allowed to use this feature. The purpose of this rule is to prevent spam and unwanted notifications.
Notification controls for users
WhatsApp is also working on an additional setting that will allow users to mute ‘@all’ mentions. This option will be especially useful for those who are part of many active groups. This feature can be turned on or off by going to the notification settings of the group so that important alerts are not missed but also to avoid recurring notifications.
When will everyone get this feature?
The @all feature is currently available to beta testers and will be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks. After completion of testing, this feature will be rolled out in stable version for Android and then iOS users.
With this update, WhatsApp aims to maintain the balance of convenience and control in group chats so that conversations remain seamless, and you have complete control over notifications.
