The Uttarakhand government has taken an important and far-sighted step to maintain the sanctity and dignity of the temples during the Chardham Yatra. In view of the increasing controversies in religious places in the name of making reels and blogs, it has been decided to ban carrying mobile phones inside Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham this year. The administration believes that this decision will not only stop unnecessary controversies, but devotees will also be able to have darshan with full devotion and concentration.
An important review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey at Chardham Yatra Transit Camp on Saturday regarding the preparations for Chardham Yatra. Garhwal IG Rajiv Swaroop and District Magistrates and departmental officers of various districts were present in the meeting. During this period, many important decisions were taken regarding travel arrangements.
There will be a phone ban even in the premises of Kedarnath
Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey clarified that in the last few years, disputes have arisen many times while making reels and blogs from mobile, due to which the dignity of the Dhams is affected. Keeping this in mind, mobile phones will be completely banned beyond Singhdwar in Badrinath. At the same time, devotees will not be able to take mobile phones in Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham complexes. Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) and the concerned district administration will make proper arrangements to keep the mobiles of the devotees safe before visiting the Dhams.
This decision of the administration gives the message that the government is not limited to mere arrangements, but is also serious about the sanctity of places of faith and religious discipline. This initiative of Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey is considered to be balanced, in which both faith and system have been kept in mind.
Funds will be released to all the districts by the month of February
In the meeting, Commissioner Pandey told that funds will be released to all the districts by the month of February for Char Dham Yatra management. He instructed the District Magistrates that the list of urgent works should be sent to the government within three days and the work should be started in fast track mode after completing the tender process within a week.
15-15 day rotation duty of doctors to health department
Strict instructions were also given regarding roads, communication and health services. NH, NHIDCL, PWD and BRO have been asked to repair the roads on the yatra routes by March 31. BSNL has been instructed to ensure better communication facilities in the Yatra routes and Dhams. The health department has been asked to arrange 15-15 day rotation duty of doctors, deployment of specialist doctors and air ambulance.
Registration system will remain the same as before
As before, the registration system will remain 60 percent offline and 40 percent online. The number of registration counters will be increased if needed. To deal with the jam, it has also been decided to provide shuttle service of small buses and widening of the highway near Brahmapuri post.
More than 50 lakh passengers traveled in the last season
Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey reminded that a record 56 lakh devotees had reached Chardham in the year 2023 and in the last season also, more than 50 lakh pilgrims made a successful journey. He expressed confidence that this year, with the concerted efforts of the government and administration, the journey will become more accessible, safe and dignified. This decision clearly shows that the government took timely concrete steps to maintain the dignity of the centers of faith.
