New Zealand defeated England in the 3-match ODI series by winning by 2 wickets in the third ODI played at Wellington Regional Stadium. The New Zealand team, captained by Mitchell Santner, had already won the series by winning the first two matches, but today England also lost the battle for honour. Batting first, England had set a target of 223 for New Zealand to win, which the team achieved in the 45th over.

Daryl Mitchell scored 44 runs in the third ODI, he had scored half-centuries in the first two ODIs against England. He scored 78 not out in the first ODI and 56 not out in the second. He was chosen the best player of the series.

England’s batting was a flop in all three matches of the ODI series, especially the top order. In the first match of the series, England batted first and scored 223 runs. In the second match, the team was all out for 175 runs only. New Zealand won all three ODIs while chasing the target.
