Opposition has been targeted for Manipur

PM Modi will reach Manipur on 13 September

According to officials in Aizawl, PM Modi will reach Manipur on 13 September after visiting Mizoram, where he will inaugurate a railway project. However, there is no official confirmation of this journey from New Delhi or Imphal. The Manipur unit of BJP has also not officially confirmed this.

Churachandpur district ‘drone prohibited area’

Meanwhile, Churachandpur district of Manipur has been declared a ‘drone prohibited area’. According to an order issued by District Magistrate Dharun Kumar S, this decision has been taken to tighten the security during the visit of VVIP (very important person).

Ethnic violence erupted in May 2023

This will be the Prime Minister’s first visit to Manipur since the ethnic violence erupted in the state in May 2023. More than 260 people have been killed and thousands have become homeless in the conflict between Meeti and Cookie communities in the state. Churachandpur, which has been declared a ‘drone prohibited area’, is a stronghold of the cookie community and is adjacent to Mizoram.
