Jackie Shroff shared an emotional post on Instagram remembering veteran actor Bhagwan Dada. Along with a black-and-white picture of Bhagwan Dada, he also posted a video of him performing on the evergreen song ‘Shola Jo Bhadke’ from the 1951 classic film ‘Albela’, which was quite emotional among the fans. Jackie Shroff wrote in the caption of his post, ‘Remembering Bhagwan Dada on his death anniversary.’

Let us tell you, Bhagwan Dada is especially known for his social film ‘Albela’. Apart from this, his evergreen songs ‘Shola Jo Bhadke’ and ‘O Beta Ji O Babuji Kismat Ki Hawa Kabhi Naram’ are still considered memorable classics of Hindi cinema. Bhagwan Dada started his film career in the silent era with the film ‘Criminal’. In the year 1938, he co-directed his first film ‘Bahadur Kisan’ with Chandra Rao Kadam.
Between 1938 and 1949, he directed several low-budget stunt and action films, which were especially popular among the working-class audiences. In 1942, he turned producer through Jagriti Pictures and established Jagriti Studios in Chembur in 1947. On the advice of Raj Kapoor, he made the social film ‘Albela’, in which Geeta Bali appeared with him and the music was given by his close friend C. Ramchandra (Chitalkar). Later, Bhagwan Dada also directed and acted in ‘Bhagam Bhag’ in 1956.
Bhagwan Dada died of a heart attack in 2002. He also faced financial crisis in the last phase of his career, but despite this, his contribution and legacy in Hindi cinema is still seen with respect and memory.
