The Supreme Court’s order to catch stray dogs in Delhi-NCR and send it to the shelter home has launched a debate on social media. Ritika Sajdeh, wife of Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma, has also come out openly on this issue. He justified this decision and said that closing stray dogs in this way is not a solution to the problem.
What did Ritika say on social media?
Ritika lodged her protest through a post on Instagram. He wrote that stray dogs are not just wandering animals on the road, but are the heartbeat of the city. These are the ones who wait for biscuits at tea shops, become guards at night for shopkeepers, seeing the children returning from school, shake the tail happily and fill their familiarity in the atmosphere.
He said that suddenly closing him in the shelter is like snatching his freedom and identity of life. He explained the solution to this problem not violent or harsh methods, but in a campaign such as his sterilization, his vaccination from time to time, feeding zone for him and encouraging people to adopt them.
Ritika also warned at the end of her post. He said, “A society that cannot protect his unruly creatures, he gradually loses his humanity. Today these are dogs, who will be tomorrow?”
Clear order of the Supreme Court
The bench of the Supreme Court, which included Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan, recently ordered all areas of Delhi-NCR to be completely removed from stray dogs. The court made it clear that once caught, dogs will not be released again on the road, and contempt action will be taken against whoever hinders this process.
Dispute and debate
While supporting the decision of the Supreme Court on the one hand, people are considering it as necessary for civil security, on the other hand, animals and activists are calling it cruel and impractical. This statement of Ritika Sajdeh can intensify this debate, especially on social media where this issue is already in trend.
