Chasing 150 runs, Chennai Super Kings opener Shane Watson played a brilliant innings but no other batsman could score much. Veterans like Faf Duplessis (26), Suresh Raina (8), Ambati Rayudu (1) and MS Dhoni (2) were dismissed cheaply. Duplessis was injured in this innings, blood was also coming out of his knees but he did not stop and continued to play. He was dismissed in the final over when CSK was very close to victory.

After coming single on the first, second ball, Watson ran 2 runs on the third ball. Shane Watson wanted to take 2 runs on the fourth ball but Watson was run out after scoring 80 runs due to good throw and good wicket keeping, in 59 balls he hit 4 sixes and 8 fours.
On the fifth ball, Shardul Thakur took 2 runs and now Chennai Super Kings needed 2 runs on the last ball, the score on one run would be equal. Lasith Malinga put the final ball straight to the yorker, which started going on Thakur’s pad and the umpire immediately raised a finger and called. MI won the fourth title under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

In this final match played at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose batting first. Shardul Thakur dismissed Quinton Dickock (29) and Deepak Chahar in the powerplay itself. After this, Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed after scoring 15 and Ishaan Kishan 23 runs.
