A recent incident at Srinagar Airport has discussed the country across the country. The case is a quarrel between a senior military officer and airline staff, in which allegedly assault was done and several employees were injured. Now the question is arising that who are these officers, what is their rank and how much salary they get?

What is the whole controversy?

The incident took place on July 26, 2025 at Srinagar International Airport when Lieutenant Colonel RK Singh, who is a senior army officer, arrived to catch a SpiceJet flight to Delhi. According to the report, he was asked to pay a fee for carrying additional goods, which he refused. After this, he entered the aerobridge without completing the boarding process, which was a violation of a security rules. CISF took them out, but then the assault allegedly started.

Who hurt how much hurt?

SpiceJet said in his official statement that four employees were injured in the incident. One has a spinal cord fracture, the other has a serious injury to the jaw. An employee fell unconscious, but the officers kept beating him with punches and sticks. The whole matter was captured in CCTV and its video went viral on social media.

The process of adding names to the no-fly list begins

SpiceJet has also complained about the incident to the Civil Aviation Ministry and has started the process of putting that officer in the no-fly list. The airline says that the safety of passengers and employees is a priority for them and no violence will be tolerated.

Officer rank and salary

The name of the military officer involved in the incident is being told as Lieutenant Colonel RK Singh. He is currently posted at the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) in Gulmarg (Jammu and Kashmir). Lieutenant Colonel rank in the Indian Army is considered very senior.

On this rank, the officer gets a monthly salary of Rs 1,21,200 to 2,12,400. Apart from this, they also get military service pay, DA (dearness allowance), HRA, transport allowance and other facilities. In this way, the in-hand salary of a lieutenant colonel can be from 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh rupees.

What did the army say?

The Indian Army has shown seriousness in this matter. The statement issued by the army said that the army is committed to maintaining the highest standards of discipline and conduct and all the allegations are being taken seriously. The police is being given full support in the investigation of the case.

Case on airline employees also

However, this case is not unilateral. Lieutenant Colonel Singh has also filed a counter complaint with the police, after which an FIR has also been lodged against the airline employees. At present, the police is investigating both sides.
