One year ban imposed on this player, read what WFI wrote in the letter

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on Tuesday suspended Paris Olympics bronze medalist Aman Sehrawat from all wrestling activities for one year for not falling below the prescribed weight limit at the Senior World Championships.

22-year-old Aman, one of India’s top medal contenders in the men’s freestyle 57 kg category, was disqualified from the World Championships after being found 1.7 kg more than the prescribed weight limit on the day of the competition.

“You are suspended from all wrestling related activities at national and international level for a period of one year from the date of show cause notice,” WFI said in a letter.

It said, ‘This decision is final. During the period of suspension you are prohibited from participating in or associating with any activity organized or sanctioned by the WFI at both national and international levels.’

In a letter dated September 23, 2025, WFI had issued a show cause notice to Aman and sought an explanation for this lapse. The federation said that the disciplinary committee found his reply given on September 29 ‘unsatisfactory’.

It said, ‘The Disciplinary Committee duly reviewed your reply given on 29 September 2025. Apart from this, clarification was taken from the head coach and assistant coaching staff. After a thorough investigation, the committee found your reply unsatisfactory and decided to take strict disciplinary action.

Citing indiscipline and lack of professionalism as the reason for the action, the federation said that being an Olympic medalist, Aman is expected to maintain the highest standards of conduct.
