During the Korona period, when the schools were closed and the children had to study from home, online classes became the only option. But now the results that are coming out are worrisome. According to a research, online studies have slowed down the intellectual ability of children. The strength of his thinking, writing and understanding has already reduced.
According to Jagran’s report, teachers of Gautam Budh University conducted a thorough study in this direction and found that there has been a decline in the language, memory and ability to analyze the language, the students studying through online. Dr. Bharti Singh, Assistant Professor of the Education Department of the University and his colleague Dr. Anand Singh led the research.
What does research say?
Students of class VIII and XII were selected for research. It was observed in the study that these children’s writing style, reading ability, the power to understand and remember the subject has become weaker than before. Children who used to write 300-400 words earlier, now they get tired in 100-150 words.
Case Study 1: Eighth student experience
A student told that she could not read as before. It has become difficult to focus for a long time. There is laziness in writing and the power to remember words has also become weak. He also said that since the offline class has resumed, he has to work hard to understand the subjects.
Case Study 2: A student of class XII also said – meditation wanders
In another case, a student of class XII told that during online studies, his focus used to go towards mobile and social media. He still cannot give much time in books. Writing long answers and thinking deeply has become a challenge for him.
The ability to think was affected
Researchers said that in online studies, children only had to sit in front of the screen and see. The practice of writing and thinking by himself decreased. This is the reason that now there is a decrease in analytical thinking and creativity in children.
Dr. Anand Singh, Assistant Professor of Gautam Budh University, says that to improve the intellectual ability of children, now we have to increase the practice of writing and reading along with offline education. He told that now he is putting students in class for 30 to 40 minutes daily in handwriting and thinking tasks.
There is also a lack of confidence in students
Dr. Bharti Singh said that the most worrying thing that has come out in this research is that the confidence of children has also decreased during online studies. They are no longer able to open their views openly and are afraid of getting less marks in the exam. Online education has made children less speaking and shy.
