On Wednesday (July 30, 2025) during the monsoon session of Parliament, Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar gave his speech in the discussion about Operation Sindoor in the Rajya Sabha. During this, Jaishankar clarified that there was no phone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi between 22 April and 16 June.

In the Rajya Sabha, the Foreign Minister said, “… I want to tell him, he should open his ears. From April 22 to June 16, there was not a single phone call between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi.”

Clear the country’s policy on ceasefire with Pakistan

In addition, S.K. Jaishankar also reiterated India’s clear policy regarding mediation in India-Pakistan affairs. He said, “Any kind of conversation with Pakistan will only be bilateral and if Pakistan wants to stop the struggle, it will have to be requested in a formal way through DGMO.”

He said, “When the operation vermilion started, many countries were in contact at that time, who wanted to know how serious this situation is and how long it will last. If you want to stop, Pakistan will have to make a request in a formal way and that request can only come through DGMO. “

Jaishankar said to stop Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan

In addition, Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar targeted the Congress by speaking on India’s decision to stop the Indus Water Treaty after the Pahalgam terror attack in the Rajya Sabha. He said, “The Congress party is uncomfortable with history.”

Jaishankar pointed to the Congress’s mistakes regarding the management of the Indus Water Treaty in the Rajya Sabha and stressed how important the agreement was. He said, “India’s Indus Water Treaty is a unique agreement with Pakistan in many ways. I do not remember any other agreement in the world in which a country has allowed its major rivers to flow towards another country without taking rights.”

He further said, “I want to remind the history of this development. On Tuesday (July 29) I heard that some people are uncomfortable with history. They want all the things of history to be forgotten. Maybe she will not be good for them, they like to remember only some good and special things.”
