RCB Chinnaswamy Stadium: Questions have been raised regarding the opening ceremony of IPL 2026. Every time the opening ceremony is organized at the home ground of the defending champion team, but the matter of the home ground of IPL 2025 champion RCB is stuck separately. A final decision has not yet been taken on whether the Royal Challengers Bangalore team will play its home matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium or not.
According to a report in Dainik Jagran, RCB may have to play its first match in Raipur. This is also a matter of great concern for BCCI, because it does not want to hold the opening ceremony in any non-metro city.
Recently a meeting of IPL Governing Council was held, in which 2 suggestions were given. The first is that if RCB plays its home matches at DY Patil Stadium in Raipur instead of Chinnaswamy Stadium, then the inauguration ceremony should also be held there. Since BCCI is not in favor of non-metro cities, the second suggestion was to hold the opening ceremony at Mullanpur, the home ground of last season’s runner-up Punjab Kings.
According to the same report of Dainik Jagran, Royal Challengers Bangalore was also offered to organize its home matches in Thiruvananthapuram, but the Bengaluru franchise rejected it.
