Operation bunyanun marsoos: Pakistani Army Director General Inter Services Public Relations (DG-Ispr) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif told the media on Sunday (May 11, 2025) that Islam is not only religion of Pakistan soldiers but Islam is also an integral part of the training of Pakistani Army.
When the Pakistani Army spokesperson was asked the question about the operation of Pakistan’s Operation Bunayan ul Marsus against India, why did he use the Islamic word in the name of the operation, he said that Islam is an important part of our training, not his personal beliefs.
‘Our army chief’s deep faith in Islam’
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif said that this inspires us, faith, takwa, jihad and Sabilillah (conflict in the name of God), this is our motto. Our army chiefs have deep faith in Islam and the trust and commitment of leadership are reflected in such campaigns.
He said that the name of our operation tells that those who fight in the path of Allah are like a steel wall. We thank Allah and the people of Pakistan and the media.
PAK army’s motto turned into the rule of General Zia-ul-Haq
Under the rule of Pakistan’s military dictator General Zia-ul-Haq, the motto of the Pakistani Army was changed from Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s Ittehad, Sure, Tanjim (unity, faith, discipline) to Iman, Takwa, Jihad Fi Sabillah. This sentence related to jihad has also repeated many times by Pakistan Army Chief General Aaseem Munir.
Lieutenant General Sharif recently came into the limelight, when a report claimed that his father Sultan Bashiruddin Mahmood had a relationship with Osama bin Laden. According to a TOI report, Mahmood was a Pakistani nuclear scientist who went to Afghanistan to meet Osama bin Laden shortly before 9/11. The report claimed that CIA and FBI also questioned him.
