Operation Sindoor Update: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025, Pakistan is wandering around the operation vermilion launched by India. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has returned to Pakistan from London and told his brother Shahbaz Sharif to work at diplomatic level to overcome the increasing crisis.
News agency ANI quoted the report of The Express Tribune as saying that Sharif had advised Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to reduce diplomatic tension after giving information about the decisions taken by the National Security Committee (NSC) in view of the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty by India.
Nawaz Sharif not in favor of adopting aggressive stance
According to the report of the Express Tribune, it was said that Sharif wants the PML-N coalition government to use all available diplomatic resources to restore peace between the two nuclear-rich countries. He said that he is not willing to take an aggressive stand.
‘Government uprooted on opposition to war’
Earlier in 2023, Nawaz Sharif had emphasized the importance of having good relations with India and said that in 1999 his government was removed because he opposed the Kargil war. Nawaz had said, “I want to know why my governments were overthrown in 1993 and 1999. Is this because we opposed the Kargil war.”
‘Violation of the agreement … was our fault’
The former Prime Minister had said, “On 28 May 1998, Pakistan conducted five nuclear tests. After this Vajpayee Saheb came here and compromised with us but we violated that agreement … it was our fault.”
