What is the village defense guard?
Village Defense Guard (VDG), earlier known as village defense committees. This is actually a civil military, which was first established against extremism in remote mountainous villages for self -defense of local people in Jammu and Kashmir, especially minorities in Jammu and Kashmir, in the mid -1990s. VDG is specially trained to face terrorists who are regularly infiltrated from Pakistan. This militia has provided important information to the police, so that the nefarious efforts made by these terrorists can be thwarted.
Demand for ex -servicemen in Jammu and Kashmir
Ex -servicemen in Jammu and Kashmir have now demanded from the government that they should be given 50 percent reservation in these villages defense Gods. Lieutenant General (Retired) RK Sharma, the head of Jammu and Kashmir X Serviceman League, has told ABP News that he wrote a letter to Jammu and Kashmir Lieg’s LAGS League and wrote a letter to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and wrote about giving 50 percent reservation of ex -servicemen in Village Defense Gods. RK Sharma, the head of the Ex -Serviceman League, Lt Gen (Retired) RK Sharma said that ex -servicemen are well acquainted with the geographical conditions of Jammu and Kashmir, but while living in the army, they have done many operations and have received training to fight terror. He said that at present, only ordinary citizens of the village are admitted to Village Defense Gods, but if ex -servicemen are added to it, then the campaign against terror will get more strength.
