Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi released the book ‘Operation Sindoor: Untold story of India’s deep attacks in Pakistan on Friday (September 5, 2025) at Manekshaw Center in New Delhi.
This book tells the story of India’s decisive and multi-dimensional military campaign beyond the Line of Control (LoC) earlier this year. During the release of the book, General Dwivedi said that this campaign was not limited to only 88 hours, as is usually understood.
‘War did not end on May 10’
He said that you must be thinking that the war ended on May 10. No, it lasted for a long time, because many important decisions were to be taken. When to start, when to stop, how much time, place and resources to use, all these issues were constantly discussed.
The army chief said that on April 22-23, the army along with veteran soldiers discussed several strategic options. He said that I spoke to many veterans on 22-23 August. He gave many great views, but it was necessary to organize him according to the national interest.
What is the army chief about Operation Sindoor?
Speaking on solidarity during the operation, he said that the Indian Army moved forward like a rhythmic wave. In those 88 hours, everyone was united and knew their orders well. General Dwivedi said that this book is not just the story of a military operation. He said that this is not only a description of military action, but is a tribute to the courage, professional attitude and firm spirit of the Indian Army and the country.
What did you say about LoC battles?
He also said that the importance of Line of Control (LoC) is often ignored. He further said that we have become so accustomed to such struggles that we often do not understand its importance. It involved in emotions, disadvantages, achievements and challenges. As you know, when the list of awards posthumously appeared from the other side, I can say that most of its credit goes to the Line of Control (LoC).
This book tries to record these untold aspects of Operation Sindoor, so that its learning and spirit can be preserved for the future.
