O’Romeo Review: You will fall in love with Romeo, Juliet is no less

At the beginning of the film ‘O Romeo’, when someone asks who and Shahid says hero, from there the mood of the film is set that what rebellion will these characters of Vishal Bhardwaj’s world, from hero to villain, create in the future. The story of this film is inspired by the story of Hussain Ustra and Sapna Didi from writer Hussain Zaidi’s book Queens of Mumbai, which has been adapted into the film.

Story- The story starts from Mumbai in the year 1995. Gangster Ustra works for the Intelligence Bureau, the head of the bureau, Khan, asks him to kill other gangsters. Meanwhile, Afsa Qureshi comes to him with a betel nut to kill four people. Whose betel nut is it and whether Ustra takes her betel nut? You will have to watch the film to find out.

how is the movie

When Vishal and Shahid come together, they do wonders. Similar wonder is there in this film also. You must have seen many love stories, but in the love story of a gangster, his crossing the border, touching death and coming back, this is all new. The special thing about this film is that no one is perfect in it, every character is grey, but still they are not hated. The camera work, production value, background score of the film, everything has been done on a large scale, which makes the film larger than life. The climax is powerful, when both the lovers use guns together. Till now, the hero has been seen doing action on Punjabi songs on the big screen, but at the beginning of the film, when Shahid’s character kills 50-100 people with his razor on the song ‘Ustra Dhak Dhak Karne Laga’, its impact is tremendous. The songs of the 90s like Ae Mere Humsafar, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi have been used very cleverly in the background.

acting

Shahid is a talented actor, but if anyone knows how to bring out the drama hidden within him in a better way, then it is Vishal Bhardwaj. After films like Haider, Kaminey, in this film too Shahid shows many shades of his acting, he looks like Romeo, gangster and also an amazing actor. Tripti Dimri is the USP of the file, she has played the most different role till date. Vishal has presented him like a hero.

Nana Patekar, Farida Jalal, Aruna Irani may play small roles but they leave their impact on the screen. Tamannaah Bhatia has only three-four scenes but she got a good opportunity to perform in that too. Avinash Tiwari had said at the trailer launch that this time recognize me, she has done such work which cannot be forgotten.

He will surprise with his acting. Disha Patani remains memorable in the role of Julie. Actor Rahul Deshpande is a surprise package in the role of Inspector Pathare in the film. Hussain Dalal’s work in the role of Chhotu is excellent.

Writing and Direction-This story of Hussain Zaidi has been put into the screenplay by Vishal and Rohan Narula in a very stylish manner. There is depth in his writing and whatever is not written on paper, Vishal has got it done through direction by the actor. From the gun made of glass to keep the liquor to the bathtub placed on the roof, Jalal’s musical but scary world in Spain, everything has been beautifully crafted in Vishal. If it is Vishal’s film, the music is also amazing.

Overall, if you want to see an intense love story and a great performance on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, then you can watch this film.

Rating- 4 stars
